Scientific library  founded in 1871, is a unit of great importance. The Library stock consist of 165 000  titles, 83 000 of them are in foreign languages, and 3000 are rare publications. Subjects covered by the books and journals refer to hydrobiology, ecology , ichtiology, biology, physiology, zoology, microbiology, parasitology and radioeology. Special emphasis is put on the information highlighting invesrigations conducted in the Black and the Azov seas.
